Description

IL-24 isasecretedglycoproteinbelongingtotheIL-10 structuralfamilyofcytokines.Itisproducedbyavarietyofcelltypes,includingBcells,CD4+cells,NKcells,lymphnodeDCs,monocytes,andmelanomacells.IL-24 cansignalthroughtheIL20R1/IL20R2andIL22R1/IL20R2receptorstoinitiateasignalingcascade,whichincludestheinductionofJAK1/STAT3phosphorylation.IL-24 is,functionally,apleiotropicprotein,butisgenerallycharacterizedasananti-cancercytokinethatcanselectivelyinhibitgrowthofawidevarietyofhumancancercellsthroughactivitiesthatinclude:theinductionofdifferentiationandapoptosis;andthesuppressionofangiogenesisandcellproliferation.RecombinantHumanIL-24 isan18.9 kDaglycoproteinthatcontains161 aminoacidresidues,includingaC-terminalHis-tag.
