Description

IL-23 isaproinflammatory,heterodimericproteincomposedoftwosubunits:auniquep19subunit,andap40subunitthatissharedwithIL-12. IL-23 issecretedbyactivateddendriticcellsandmacrophages,andsignalsthoughareceptorcomprisedofIL-23RcomplexedwithIL-12Rβ2.IL-23 hasbeenshowntoenhanceproliferationofmemoryTcells.ItalsostimulatestheproductionofIFN-γinNKcells,inducesIL-17 production,anddrivesTh17-mediatedresponses.RecombinantHumanIL-23 isa53.5 kDa,heterodimericproteinconsistingofthetwosubunits,p19(170 aminoacids)andp40(306 aminoacids).
